Cedar Accents Are Standing Out
Today I was driving through the beautiful Polk City, IA, just across the bridge that spans Sailorville Lake.
As a Realtor, I enjoy driving through new developments and neighborhoods, watching as people's dreams come true, one plank or one piece of drywall at a time. With my broker having land, new construction and lots in the area, it was not my first time through, but it was the first time I did a double take. I was riding with another agent, so I was able to stare and crane my neck as we went by.
A super trendy, but not super common thing stood out on the house I passed: very bright, vivid, cedar siding. Do you have an accent wall in your home? These houses had it ON their home.
Now, cedar siding is not uncommon, as many of you know. While slightly higher than average cost, a little love and care every few years will make it last for a long long time. Buy some paint, treat it, stain it, viola: reliable wood siding. I wasn't caught off guard by the fact a $300k+ house had cedar siding. It was the WAY it had cedar siding.
If you haven't seen these - or haven't been to Polk City, IA at all - I reccommend it.
I went home and began my research, digging into the pros and cons, and viewing more and more styles. When my wife and I build, this will most certainly be a part of the design. Affordable, no extra care needed (besides the normal care of cedar siding) and with big time curb appeal, this is a style that has potential to make your house stand out as unique, welcoming and cozy, with the type of elegance that the market demands.
My job is to help people make their dreams come true, and learn as much as I can to make the buying and selling process more streamlined for my clients.
Your job is to go to Google and search for "Cedar siding house accents", then let me know if that's something you want when we sit down to discuss your next home build or purchase.
